3-1/4" CARTRIDGE WITH CASE & EXTRA STOCK. Cal. 12 Ga. 3-1/4". S# 9917. This was Berrien's favorite duck gun, it has 31-7/8" heavy chopper lump barrels with slightly raised flat matted rib. Tops of barrels are engraved with maker's name on right and highest award information on left over "Sir J. Whitworth's Fluid Compressed Steel". Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 1-1/4 oz. of shot. Whitworth sheaf of wheat trademarks are on bottoms of barrels and heavy reinforced splinter is engraved "3 1/4" Cases". Robust boxlock action features non-automatic safety, square crossbolt third fastener, side clips and double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage delicately cut shaded scroll. Maker's name is in ribbon on both sides. Matching trigger guard has S# on tang which extends to horn grip cap. Very well made replacement pistol grip buttstock made of very attractive well marbled and crotch figured European walnut measures 14-1/4" over red Silver type pad on 1/2" hard rubber spacer. Stock features drop points and well cut point pattern checkering at grip. Matching original splinter forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .731. R .731. High quality leather "VC" case with stitched leather corners lined in scarlet cloth has paper William Cashmore label in lid and charge card for this gun. Bottom has oak lining and contains two piece German silver and ebony cleaning rod, brass snap caps and oil bottle along with letter from previous owner and sliver of wood missing from old stock in plastic bag. CONDITION: fine as refurbished. Barrels with nearly all professional re-black. Action cleaned to coin finish. Top lever, floorplate and trigger guard re-blued. Superb quality buttstock with nearly all original finish. Forend refinished; checkering re-cut. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight; mechanically good. Case leather is still light in color and has many scuffs and rubs. Interior cloth is good. Labels are lightly foxed. Accessories are fine.
